After a rough night of sleep due to cold feet, a headache, and constant trips outside to pee. We got up at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast at 9.
For breakfast, we were served bacon, which was a nice treat. Afterward, we enjoyed some downtime and managed to access a different Wi-Fi network. This allowed us to call our parents and Baban to reassure them that we were alive and well. We relaxed a bit more until I got a brief chance to call Ji, though it was only for 15 minutes because we had crampon practice scheduled.
At 11:30 a.m., we met up with the rest of our group for a cramponing lesson. Since Mathieu and I already had previous experience, we quickly put on our crampons and joined the group in practicing. We walked up and down an icy section near camp, practicing our crampon technique and using an ice axe for stability.
After the practice session, we returned to our tent to rest until lunch. However, just as lunch approached, a massive snowstorm hit the camp, pelting us with snow and bringing thunderstorms in the distance. We stayed in the tent while the storm passed, and once it cleared, we ventured out for lunch. The meal was noodles, which were delicious and comforting after the storm.
With little else to do, we went back to the tent for another nap. The weather and altitude made rest the best option for the afternoon.
Dinner was held early at 6:30 p.m., and it was a pizza party! We enjoyed a few pizzas together with the group before heading back to our tent. We went to bed early, preparing ourselves mentally and physically for the upcoming summit attempt over the next few days.
