Our second morning on the cruise was wonderfully relaxing. We woke up late, had breakfast, lounged in bed updating the blog, and then wandered back out for lunch. Since all meals are included on this cruise, there’s no debate on restaurant decisions. You just walk to the restaurant and pick a dish. Easy peasy.
At one point, an announcement came on saying we’d just crossed the Arctic Circle. I even got a stamp on my souvenir postcard. While we spent the morning doing nothing productive, the ship was out there working hard to move us steadily south.
After lunch, we headed to the observation deck to watch the sunset. The sun sets very early here and the colours last a long time, so we got to enjoy an extended show. As the sky started shifting into shades of pink, red, and orange, we went outside to take photos. It was absolutely stunning. Antoine even ranked it in his top 5 sunset views. It was freezing and windy, and his nose was turning red like Rudolph the reindeer, so we eventually went back indoors.
There was one stop today in Brønnøysund, where we could have gone out for a short walk. But as we approached the port, I suddenly felt overwhelmingly sleepy. Then came the dilemma: do we explore, or do we nap? Antoine looked out from the deck and decided the town looked pretty similar to yesterday’s, cute but nothing new. So the decision was made: back to bed potato-ing. I felt slightly guilty for about two seconds, but the nap was glorious.
In the end, it turned out to be a very lazy day where we didn’t step off the ship at all. Tomorrow will be a busy day, so we felt perfectly fine having a slow one today.
