Day 3 – Sydney

4th November 2019

The alarm was supposed to go off at 8am, I was awake by 5am and very very hungry. We try to sleep some more, but it doesn’t work. I decided to look for a breakfast place. Using TripAdvisor, I pick a place called Two Ant Café. It was about a 10 minute walk from where we were. We find it and ordered two different forms of Avocado Toast. Mine was on a croissant.

After we eat, we go find our rental car. It was a 20 minute walk from the café. Our rental car is a Hyundai Accent, in a bright blue color. We drive it back to the hotel to pick up beachwear. Once we gather ourselves, we drive to Bronte Beach, and walk along the coast for an hour. There were art installations all over the place, tourists stopping to take pictures, and schools of kids running around the beach. We touch the water once, but ultimately decide that this wasn’t the time to go in the water because it was freezing. After we finish our walk, we head back to the car and drive back to the hotel. Looking at our local maps of Sydney, we decided to park our car for until we are leaving Sydney. But first, a quick nap.

An hour after we decide to take a nap, we start our walk. Thirty minutes to a lookout point to see the Sydney Opera House and then thirty minutes through the Botanical Garden to the Sydney Opera House. We found two reasonably priced caps in the gift shop in the Opera House, and we haven’t found any hats that are cheaper yet.

Antoine decided a few countries ago, that he wants to do an escape room in each country we go to. So we had to go from the Opera House, to dinner, and then to the escape room activity he had booked. We stop by a souvenir shop that sold Uggs, and bought some cheap but chic sunglasses. Turns out, Westfield malls are a pretty big thing in Australia, so we had dinner in their food court. I had some Hainan Chicken and Antoine had a burrito.

The escape room Antoine booked was for 60 minutes, and it was vampire themed. It took us 55 minutes. It was supposed to more digital and less locks, but it wasn’t as interesting as it was sold to us. Antoine hopes that the one he booked in New Zealand is as interesting as it is marketed.

After the escape room, we walk back towards the viewing point to see the Sydney Opera House at night. There was supposed to be a show projected onto it, but turned out it was only on one of the sails. We could still see it, but it wasn’t that spectacular. So we took the opportunity to take some really nice night pictures of the Opera House. Then we walked back to the hotel for thirty minutes, cleaned up, packed, and went to sleep for a 5am start the next day.
