Day 1 – Flight to Mendoza

17th December 2022

Paris ———> Madrid

Distance: 1028km
Time: 1:51h

Madrid ———> Lima

Distance: 9840km
Time: 12h

Today we woke up at 4:30am and quickly finished packing before driving to the airport, there even though we arrived about 2 hours early, we were stuck in a long queue for checkin, which unfortunately took us an hour an a half to complete. This meant that when we finally reached the checkin counter, we had 20 mins left before our gate would close. We had hopped to be able to bring our hand luggage on board, but were forced to check it in too, thankfully I had planned ahead and so only had to take out our Mountaineering shoes, as we didn’t want to lose those.

However we were not out of trouble yet, we had to run through security, which thankfully was empty and to our gate and still made it with a couple minutes to spare. The first flight we were taking on this journey was a 2h30 long flight to Madrid, which was Uneventfull.

Once in Madrid we had some brunch in the form of some local ham sandwiches and undertook the traditional hunting in the airport for plugs to charge our phone whilst we waited the 5 hours until our next flight to Lima.

Our leg to Lima was a 13h long flight over the Atlantic Ocean, thankfully we had enough random movies to enjoy like the most nicolas cage movie of them all, “the unbearable weight of immense talent” but after some nice meals we landed in Lima, where we had to wait another 5 hours until our final flight.
