Day 8 – Mendoza

Today I woke up early and decided to get ahead on my logistics before having to go to the hospital to get checked out. I ended up calling my insurance to start getting everything sorted, and managed to get my flight changed for free to leave the next day.

After breakfast, I met with someone from the travel company and dealt with all the paperwork associated with being evacuated, including paying a ton of money for the helicopter. following this I checked out of my hotel, preparing all the stuff I would be taking with me back to France and everything I would leave for Mathieu

Once I was ready we took a taxi to a hospital nearby where I was supposed to get checked out to make sure everything was okay after the previous day. As we got to the hospital, our first stop was to pay for the visit, but as we registered they told us their system was not working correctly, which we ignored as we paid and went to see the doctor. The doctor’s visit went well as she checked me all over, all in Spanish, and seems to all be okay, but she wanted to run some additional tests to make sure everything was okay. Unfortunately, that is where we encountered some more issues as due to their system not working, we were unable to pay for the extra tests or get them ordered, and waited 2 hours hoping for their system to start working again.

after having been at the hospital for 3:30h we decided to go to a different hospital to get checked out as it didn’t look like their issues were going to resolve themselves. As we got to the new hospital, it was all much more efficient and we were seen in 30 minutes by a mountain doctor, who checked me over and seemed happy that everything was in order and didn’t feel the need to do any other tests so he discharged me and let me go back to the hotel.

In order to save money I had gotten a cheaper hotel, so I collected my stuff and bought it over to the new hotel where I went to bed early that night, ready for my flight the next morning
