Day 20 – New Delhi to Kathmandu

29th August 2017

The alarm goes off at 5 am. We have a flight to catch. I call an uber and we make our way. The first thing that happens is that we spend an hour in the check-in line, and then we get McDonald’s, some paint, a puzzle book, and brushes, and clay. The day before we had bought two toy rickshaws.

We land in Kathmandu, get our visas, and find out that T-Mobiles international data plan does not work in Nepal. We get a prepaid taxi to the hotel. During all of this, one thing I notice is that everyone seems to pay more attention to me than to Antoine. I think it is because I’m more on the pale-skin end, and I’m still Asian. We get into a cab, and someone gets into the passenger seat. This man tells the driver where our hotel is then turns around and talks to us about sightseeing and temples. He then tells us it’s 110 dollars to have a tour guide for a day and a half. After a bit of silence, we get to the hotel and tell him that we will call him at noon. At around 1 pm we call him, talk the price down to 100dollars, and we got ourselves a Nepali tour guide.

He gets to our hotel by 1:30 pm with a driver that resembles Ben Kingsley. They drove us to the Monkey Temple, where a monkey jumped on me because he thought our GoPro was food. Around the temple are colorful flags hanging around everywhere and prayer wheels. We got to throw a coin in one of the fountains for good luck and Antoine fell in love with the prayer wheels.

After the Monkeys, we went to a little village with many temples and old fashion buildings. We even got to wait 20minutes to see a real-life God for a few seconds.

Our last stop for this day was the Dream Garden. It’s a little area with fountains and grass, it is exactly what it sounds like.

We got to the hotel and passed out.
