Today we didn’t have any big plans for the morning, so we got up late and packed all our stuff, ready to visit our 3rd Stan!
At around 11, we checked out and headed to the airport, which was quite small and quite empty, but very modern. We checked in and went through security, saying bye-bye to our G Adventures guide. After security, we found a pub with views of the runway and ordered a burger, followed by a brownie, while we waited to board our flight.
Our flight with Air Astana was pretty good. Even though it was only an hour and a half, they had TVs on every seat and even served us a tasty sandwich and drinks.
When we arrived in Tajikistan, we got off the plane and joined the immigration queue, which went off without any issues and allowed us into the country. We then waited for quite a while for our luggage, having to rush between two carousels as you never knew which one your luggage would come out on. Eventually, we were reunited with our bags!
After meeting our new guide, we got onto our new minibuses and headed off to get some local currency before checking into our very new hotel, which was extremely nice.
For dinner, we ate Turkish food at a restaurant near the hotel. After that, we went on a night-time city tour of Dushanbe.
Dushanbe was very pretty at night, with so many lights illuminating all the buildings. Apparently, this is because Tajikistan is one of the largest exporters of electricity and, according to one of our guides, we have so much electricity that we might as well use it!
Following the walk, we headed back to our hotel and passed out after the long day we’d had.
