Khujand

Day 5 - 18th August 2026

Today we got up and loaded our stuff back into the van for another long drive on rocky roads to get out of the valley where we were staying. After about an hour and a half of being shaken, not stirred, we finally made it back to a smooth road!

From there, we drove a little bit further before stopping in a local city to see one of the largest busts of Lenin and visit a local mosque before grabbing lunch.

For lunch, we had more manti and some stuffed pastries.

After this short break, it was back in the car for another two hours to get to the main city where we would be staying: Khujand, Tajikistan’s second-largest city.

Before going to the hotel, we stopped by another mosque and visited the city’s Grand Bazaar, walking through the aisles of fresh fruits, vegetables, spices and pretty much anything else you could think of.

Our hotel that night was right by the riverfront, giving us a beautiful view of the city. Since we were starting to get a bit tired of local food, we decided to get KFC instead and chill at the hotel for the evening.
