Today we got to wake a bit later than usual, this time after the sun had risen! we first went out to buy some snacks before we started today’s hike by going to the top of Namche Bazaar to the observatory where we got to see Everest for the first time since we had entered the park. we spent 30 mins there visiting the park and seeing the statue of Tenzing Norgay. After talking some mandatory photos, we continue our walk down the valley towards our next stop, Tengboche.
We hiked for 2 hours until we reached a little village selling souvenirs, there we stopped to drink tea before we went down the hill crossing monks and yaks (who wear red not as decorations but to denote that the yak wearing it is aggressive) when we reached the bottom, we sat at a restaurant overlooking the river and had a quick lunch.
Following lunch we crossed to the other side of the river and had to climb back up all the height we had lost just before lunch in reaching the river. This took us about 2 hours, but finally we reached the top of the hill where Tengboche lied. There we quickly stopped by the Monastery to see the monks praying for good luck on the mountain before we went to our hotel for the night and dropped off our bags.
Since it was getting quite cold, we huddled around the fire stove which to keep warm, burns dried yak poo. we stayed there for a bit before we got to eat dinner, this time with Helicopter chicken, which means we didn’t have to eat vegetarian for today without risking death.
Following dinner our guide gave us the plan for the next day and let us go back to our rooms to sleep ready for the next morning.
