Day 8 – Tengboche to Dingboche

14th October 2023

Today I woke up at 4 am to go take some pictures of the stars over Mount Everest in the distance. I got up and dressed in a million layers before going outside where you could faintly hear the bells of the yaows (yak and cow hybrids) sleeping just a few meters away from me, you could also hear a few dogs barking away trying to chase something away. As I set up my camera and took some pictures which took a while, it started getting colder and colder so after about an hour, just as the clouds were rolling in, I decided to go back to bed for a short nap.

About an hour later it was time to wake up for real, so I got ready once again and tried to go see the sunrise, but unfortunately the sun was hidden by the clouds so instead we all went back inside to get breakfast and get warm with some tea.

After breakfast we started our 5 hour trek to Dingboche, we started slowly walking down the valley seeing all the piles of yak poo drying ready to warm us up later. after about 2 hours we stopped for some tea just before lunch where I had a delicious noodle soup at a little restaurant in the village we were crossing.

After lunch we continued our uphill hike for another 2 hours to finish our 12km hike and reach Dingboche.

There we had dinner and went to bed early to recover from the first few days.
