Day 1 – Flight into Quito

22nd May 2014

Day 1 – I arrived at the airport ready for a sleepless night and somehow managed to get myself stuck in the bathroom for 15 min because the door was broken I was luckily freed by repairmen who luckily stumbled upon me after being stuck there for 15 mins. … great start to the trip: p

I had to wait until 5 am to finally be able to go through security and be able to board the plane at 6 am. On the plane, I almost straightaway passed out after getting a sandwich and tomato juice, because I hadn’t been able to sleep at all in the airport, instead geeking on the computer to create this page!

my layover was 4-5 hours so I had time to play around with my website again. Unfortunately in doing so I managed to break it and will have to wait until I am in Quito to fix it.

My next and final flight took me to Quito, where I got to spend 11 hours with no TV’s or computer (mine had run out of battery) and was therefore so bored I basically only slept, as it was the only thing to do! I was seated next to a guy from Ecuador who talks a lot, but it’s okay since the only thing to do on this plane is to sleep.

Once at the airport, I was greeted by a G Adventures representative with whom I met another girl who is going to be going on the same trip as me (her name is Sarah). Funnily enough, I had seen her in Madrid as we were about to board my plane and wondered if she was going on my trip.

We got on the minibus which took us an hour to get to the hotel, plenty enough time to take pictures and get to know Sarah (the other girl on my trip)

When we finally got to the hotel, I took a much-needed shower and we went out to a restaurant in Quito next door to the hotel, there I took a huge drink with Sarah and I was a bit tipsy at the end. We went back to the hotel and watched a movie to stay up until 10 so that we could get used to the new timezone we were in.

after the movie, Sarah left and I passed out.
