After going to bed at 2 am the night before having watched the fireworks of the 14th of July on the Eiffel Tower (and not being able to take the Metro back hence having to walk back for an hour and a half) I woke up early and finished off my suitcase and bag. Once I was ready mum drove me to the airport and drop me off in the depose minute since non-travellers are not allowed in the terminal.
I went in and checked in and had to queue ages to get by security, but once I had passed that step I was able to grab a slice of pizza and orange juice, an interesting breakfast! I waited there for a while before going to my gate and hopping onto my first flight to Munich. The flight was about two hours long but was relatively uneventful. In Munich, after changing my ticket so I could have a window I made my way to the gate and boarded.
The second flight was slightly longer which meant I was able to get a tomato juice and sneak in a nap. when we finally arrived in Cairo we had to go through many different checks all with long queues before finally being allowed to leave the airport. The first was quarantine to prove vaccination, then the border, then customs. Finally, after wasting an hour I managed to make it out.
As soon as I exited the airport I was hit with the heat of Cairo and it was only 25°. I then tried to book an Uber that could get me to my hotel, I first tried to get a standard Uber which failed because the driver couldn’t find me. On my second try, I decided to book a luxury Uber which after some struggle finally found me and picked me up. The driver drove me into town which was quite packed and it ended up taking almost an hour but it only cost me €10
Once at the hotel, I checked in and paid for the extra night before going straight to bed since it was already 11 pm and I had spent the whole day traveling.
