Day 14 – Aqaba

28th July 2021

Once again, we woke up early, partially due to the sunlight, partially because of the time breakfast was being served. So, we went and ate before packing all of our stuff, they had delicious houmous for breakfast. after breakfast we took all our stuff and put it in the back of the jeeps, we then drove us back to our bus

In the bus we tried to sleep some more, for the about two-hour journey. We arrived in Aqaba at around nine and were given keys to our hotel room which were the nicest of any of the room we had been in so far, we dropped us off and got ready for a boat tour.

We took the bus in the direction of the port and stopped at a resort, there we got off the bus and walked down to the beach at the beach Edgardo, Martha and I went to the diving centre and decided to do two dives where we would be able to see some sunken wrecks. After signing away our rights and paying, we got to try our equipment and make sure everything was okay.

Once everything is checked out, we re-joined the rest of the group and got onto the boat. The boat took us to our first driving spot where we geared up and after jumping in the water, we slowly descended. We advanced towards the wreck, which I could see slowly forming in the distance. Before reaching the boat, we swam through some corals and a big Nemo started swimming with me around my face but about after 30 seconds it disappeared only for me to suddenly feel him bitch slap me in the face. As he swam away, we continued to swim closer and closer to the wreck until we were right next to it. There we could see hundreds of corals with lots of beautiful fish swimming around them, after a few metres we reached this cave under the boat and swam through it in order to get to the other side of the boat. There when you would turn around to look up, you could see the masts against the blue of the sea which was full of life and corals.

We continued exploring the wreck by going to the front of the boat under the bow and swimming underneath before getting close to the storage space and in and around the masts. Finally, we got to the back of the wreck and got back onto our boat, it was the most beautiful dive I have ever done so far, it was full of life and so interesting to explore.

Back on the boat I waited for the others to come back and after trying the sundeck with Sabrina and almost losing my shirt to the sea we ended up chilling on the top deck. After while the boat departed again and brought us to another diving spot that we decided to go snorkelling instead we grabbed some snorkels and fins and started following our guide, swimming above the reef, which was 7 m below us, where we could see divers.

Back on the boat we went to the final diving spot for the day. We got ready and jumped in. After descending we reached the front of a plane that had been sunk, we swam over it, over the wings before swimming inside of the body where the roof had collapsed. Then we reached the tail there we turned towards some coral reefs. We swam through beautiful corals before reaching a vast blue canyon which we crossed. On the other side were more corrals which slowly disappeared as we reached an area devoid of any thing in the middle of which there was an old tank. The tank was full of corrals and fish, but also had quite a few divers and snorkellers, so we swam around it and took some photos before heading back to the boat into the surface.

Back at the surface we removed the gear and went back upstairs where a few minutes later lunch was served with chicken and sausages. we ate lunch and chilled until the boat brought us back to shore. We go back onto the bus and back to the hotel.

For dinner we walked right outside of the hotel to a restaurant which was good then went back to the hotel room.
