Today we were woken up by a wake-up call at 5 am and went up to grab breakfast at 5:30 where we could see the sunrise over the city. We quickly hopped onto a bus at 6:30 for a 45-minute drive during which I wanted to take a nap but unfortunately wasn’t able to since Mayer spent the whole journey telling us about the tombs we would be visiting.
When we got to the valley of the kings, we were able to visit four of the 28 tombs that had been discovered there. The tombs were beautiful and kept a lot of the original colours due to the sunlight not entering them even though some of them had been looted.
After the tombs we drove to a temple nearby and took a few pictures, before our next stop at a local village, there we were welcomed into a local family who saved us lunch. The lunch was delicious except for the fact that they used a lot of coriander.
After finishing lunch, we went back to our hotel where I was finally able to take a nap. I slept for two hours before going to run a few errands to get money.
At 6:30 we all met and learnt the good news that none of us had Covid which meant we could all continue to Jordan. We then walked down the street to a local restaurant located on the top floor of a building there we had a beautiful view of the city and the local temple which used to house the obelisk that is now in place de la Concorde in Paris. At the restaurant I got a delicious Egyptian chicken pancake and got to try camel burger.
I then went back to the hotel to get ready for another early wake up call.
