Day 13 – Antigua

1st March 2022

Today we woke up at 3:30 and had to rush to get onto the boat to the mainland by 3:45 where we boarded a bus for a 7-hour bus drive to Antigua Guatemala. our bus ride was a mostly smooth ride, except for the few times we got stopped by the cops for nothing and the time we got stuck in a massive traffic jam caused by two truckers arguing for hours on who should give way, which caused our bus driver to have to pull some very risky and tight manoeuvres to get us out of the situation and back on the road quickly.

When we arrived in Antigua, having done quite a good time, we dropped off our stuff at the hotel and went to a local restaurant where I tried some local Guatemalan stew, which was quite good, before we headed off and walked around the city to experience Antigua, and learn more about the Guatemalan culture and different areas of the city.

For dinner, our guide invited us all to his house for a tacos party, so we all booked ubers to bring us there where we enjoyed some delicious tacos homemade.
