Day 24 – Santa Anna Volcano

12th March 2022

today after waking up early we started our hike from our camp to the top of the Santa Anna Volcano. It took us about an hour and a half to get to the top. There we saw the crater of the volcan which was filled with turquoise blue water due to the sulfur being released by this dormant volcano. unfortunately our views of the surrrounding lanscape ended up being obstructed as clouds rolled over the mountain and the surrounding volcanoes.

After going back down and making it back to our camp we had a quick lunch before going to the lake to relax that after. The lake is located in a giant crater that was caused 1000’s of years ago when a volcano exploded. there we relaxed under the sun for most of the afternoon jumping in the cool waters of the lake.

For dinner, back at our camp, we had a Pupusas again, where a local woman came and taught us how to make our own pupusas before making mountains of them for us to eat, enough pupusas that some people had competitions of who could eat the most.
