Day 19 – Copán

7th March 2022

Today we got up at 4 am and loaded our stuff onto the bus for a long journey to Honduras. Thankfully we were able to fall asleep on the bus and had a break about 3 hours after leaving to get breakfast in a local chain restaurant. We then continued on our journey to the border. There thanks to our guide’s connection, we flew through the Guatemala exit but still had to go do all the steps to go into Honduras. Thankfully after we did this we were just a short bus ride away from our destination, Copan Ruinas.

When we arrived in Copan ruins, we were invited to lunch by our guide to try ballenas which are tortillas filled with cheese cream and different other fillings. The place we went to look at seemed a bit dodgy so we were playing with fire, but it was good and thankfully we didn’t get sick from them.

The rest of the afternoon was free so I decided to take a nap before dinner, where we went to a restaurant that served huge skewers, that should feed 3 people each, but I had a full one just for me and wasn’t able to finish half of it.
