Day 18 – Antigua

6th March 2022

Today after sleeping in we decided to visit a local macadamia farm, after struggling to get an uber we drove to the outskirts of the city where we arrived at the farm.

There they showed us around the farm telling us how the macadamia are grown and how they are processed after they fall from the tree. We got to see every stage of the process, and got to try some of the macadamia, as well as get a facial massage with the macadamia oil they have.

After this we had lunch in the farm, and i tried their famous macadamia pancakes which were quite good before we headed back to the city.

After struggling to get an uber from so far outside of the city centre, we got back and went to the souvenir market, where we saw lots of different kinds of souvenirs and I ended up buying another painting there. next we prepared for the next few days by going to make photocopies of our passports and buying some snacks and wter for the road before goign back to the hostel.

Back at the hstel we met with our new group that would be continuing from Antigua to San Jose in Costa Rica. We had our usual welcome meeting with our tour guide who told us about what we would be doing on this section of the trip, before telling us we would be leaving at 4am the following morning. We then proceded to dinner in a local restaurant before going to bed early.
