Today we woke up at 3:30 am to go on to our next country Belize. We got on the van at 4am and drove a very unconfortable 3 hours until we reached the border. There we had to go through many many bureaucratic hoops before we would be allowed to go into Belize. First we had to pay Mexico to leave the country (even though some of us shouldnt have needed to) before going to take a Covid test to make sure we were negative. Thankfully everyone in our tour group tested negative so we were all able to move onto the final step, imigration into Belize.
Having made it into the country, we got back on a different van (slightly more comfortable than the old one) and drove another 3 hours until we reached Belize City, where we got onto a water taxi to bring us by boat about an hour away on the island of Caye Caulker.
Once we arrived on the island at around 3 pm, we dropped off our luggage and went to a local restaurant where we got a type of local curry which we ate at around. Next, I ventured off to find a Diving centre where I would be able to go diving the blue hole on Wednesday before going to see the sunset from one side of the island. Next, we went to finish a few things for our snorkelling trip the following day before going to the edge of the island to hear our guide talk about the history of Mexico and Belize (including the fact that half of Belize is contested by Guatemala)
